BEGINNER/ADVANCED Courses
“Our goal at Strongpoint Shooting Complex is to provide a safe, friendly atmosphere for the preservation and promotion of shooting sports. By providing instruction for the beginner to experienced marksman all participants will better their abilities and understanding of firearms use. With an emphasis on safety! ”
Please Note: All participants attending gun classes will need to bring a pen or pencil and notebook paper. These courses include range time so please dress comfortably and wear shoes that can get a bit dirty. The range will provide eye and ear protection.
Basic Pistol Course (Introductory)
This course is for beginners. We will cover the fundamentals of shooting a pistol and building the students comfort and confidence level. The fee for the course will also cover the use of a pistol and ammunition that will be used for the range portion. Participants will be shooting a .22 semi-automatic pistol. Course will be approximately 3 to 4 hours in the classroom and 1 to 2 hours on the range.
The course outline: The classroom portion will cover safety, parts and operation (revolver and semi-automatic), selection of ammunition, shooting basics (stance, grip, sight alignment, breathing and trigger control), cleaning and storage. The range portion will give each participant the chance to apply all that was covered in the classroom portion ending with him/her being capable of firing a pistol safely.
Basic Pistol Course (Advanced)
This course is for a shooter that needs a refresher course on general firearm handling and accuracy or the shooter that would like to progress to competitive shooting. The Advanced course requires the participants to use a 9 mm pistol and 2 boxes of 9 mm ammunition. The range has pistols that can be rented and ammunition that can be purchased in the club house. Course will be approximately 30 minutes in the classroom and 1 to 2 hours on the range.
The course outline: The classroom portion will give a quick recap of what was taught in the Basic Pistol Course (Introduction) then progress to covering the following: improving marksmanship skills when engaging targets, how to engage multiple targets, gear options, speed and accuracy.
Basic Rifle Course
This course is for beginners. We will cover the fundamentals of shooting a rifle and building the students comfort and confidence level. The fee for the course will also cover the use of a pistol and ammunition that will be used for the range portion. Participants will be shooting a .22 semi-automatic rifle. Course will be approximately 3 to 4 hours in the classroom and 1 to 2 hours on the range.
The course outline: The classroom portion will cover safety, parts and operation of multiple types of rifles, selection of ammunition, shooting basics (stance, grip, sight alignment, breathing and trigger control), engaging targets at long distances, standing and bench rest shooting, cleaning and storage. The range portion will give each participant the chance to apply all that was covered in the classroom portion ending with him/her being capable of firing a rifle while using the standing and bench rest position safely.
